Several major UK retailers now warn that PS5 code-in-box copies of Grand Theft Auto VI can only be redeemed on PlayStation accounts registered to the United Kingdom. That single sentence turns a casual import into a support headache.
Irish listings use similar language for Ireland. That matters in the EU, where digital geo-blocking has previously drawn regulatory scrutiny — and where shoppers often assume a European box works across neighboring accounts.
Not every European storefront matches that wording. Some German and Spanish pages describe Europe-wide redemption, and others show no disclaimer at all — a messy signal rather than a clean Rockstar memo published in one place.
Why the wording conflict exists
Retailers sometimes paste publisher guidance unevenly. Platform account regions, distribution rights, and local counsel can also produce different disclaimers even when the underlying SKU looks identical on a shelf.
