Description
The Assault Sniper fills the designated marksman role in GTA VI's weapon hierarchy, offering semi-automatic firepower at ranges where assault rifles lose their punch. Favored by Leonida's private military contractors and cartel enforcers alike, it represents the modern battlefield philosophy of rapid precision over slow bolt-action tradition. When Vice City's gang wars spill into the open highways and port districts, the Assault Sniper lets operators engage multiple targets in quick succession without sacrificing lethal accuracy.
Design
Based on the British L129A1 Sharpshooter rifle, the Assault Sniper features a free-floating barrel within a full-length Picatinny rail handguard, a collapsible stock for vehicle transport, and a distinctive tan/FDE finish that echoes Leonida's military surplus aesthetic. The gas-operated semi-auto action is visibly animated during firing, with the charging handle reciprocating on each shot.
Performance
Damage sits slightly below the Bolt Action Sniper but the semi-automatic action allows for rapid follow-up shots that more than compensate. Effective range covers mid-to-long engagements with excellent accuracy when tap-fired, though sustained rapid fire introduces noticeable vertical climb. The suppressor attachment reduces both sound signature and muzzle flash at the cost of a small velocity penalty.
Customization
The variable zoom scope is the signature attachment, offering 4x to 10x magnification on the fly for adapting between urban rooftop overwatch and open-country engagements. A suppressor can be threaded for stealth operations, and extended magazines double capacity to 16 rounds for prolonged engagements without reloading.
Locations
Unlocked at Ammu-Nation during the mid-to-late story after completing high-profile missions, or occasionally found in military convoy ambush events along Leonida's Interstate 4 corridor.
