Description
The Auto Dialer is an electronic brute-force tool designed to crack keypad-locked doors, safes, and security panels during break-ins and heists. In GTA VI's Leonida, many high-value targets are protected by electronic access codes rather than mechanical locks, and the auto dialer rapidly cycles through combinations until it finds the right one. It's the digital equivalent of picking a lock - slower but quieter than explosives.
Design
A compact handheld device with a numeric display, a coiled cable, and alligator clips that attach to a keypad's wiring. The screen scrolls through number combinations at high speed while the device emits a soft electronic whine. It looks like something a shady electronics vendor would sell out of a van in Little Haiti.
Performance
The auto dialer attaches to electronic keypads and cycles through codes automatically, opening locked doors and safe panels after a timed waiting period. Higher-security systems take longer to crack, creating tension during timed heist scenarios. The device is reusable but may require battery replacement or recharging between uses.
Customization
N/A - potential speed upgrade tiers through hacker contacts.
Locations
Acquired from underground electronics dealers in Port Gellhorn, provided by hacker associates during heist planning phases, and sold at specialty criminal supply vendors accessible after mid-story progression.
Trivia
- Auto dialers are real devices used by locksmiths and, less legally, safecrackers - GTA VI's version is a dramatized but grounded interpretation.
- The cracking animation may feature a suspenseful close-up of the scrolling numbers, adding cinematic tension to break-in sequences.
- Upgraded auto dialers with faster processors may become available through the game's criminal network contacts.
- Using an auto dialer is completely silent, making it the preferred entry method for stealth-focused heist approaches.
