Unarmed brawling - fistfights, taunts, and non-lethal street scraps

Description

Fists are the most fundamental combat option in GTA VI - always available, never confiscated, and deeply personal. In Leonida's volatile streets, unarmed combat is how most confrontations begin, from drunken brawls outside Ocean Beach clubs to prison-yard throwdowns in Jason's backstory. GTA VI reportedly features an overhauled melee combat system with contextual strikes, grapples, and environmental takedowns that make fists viable well beyond the opening hours.

Design

Your character's bare hands - no equipment required. Visual presentation changes with character outfits; gloves, rings, and hand wraps may alter the look of unarmed strikes. Jason's hands bear knuckle tattoos visible during close-up fight sequences.

Performance

Fists deal the lowest raw damage of any combat option but benefit from the fastest attack speed and an extensive combo system. The overhauled melee mechanics allow dodge-and-counter sequences, environmental slams, and crowd-control shoves that make unarmed brawling surprisingly effective against single unarmored targets.

Customization

N/A - always available as the default unarmed state.

Locations

Always equipped by default - no acquisition needed. Enhanced unarmed techniques may unlock through gym visits or fight-club encounters rumored to exist in Downtown Vice City and Port Gellhorn warehouse districts.

Trivia

  • GTA VI is expected to feature the most detailed hand-to-hand combat system in the series, building on improvements seen in Red Dead Redemption 2.
  • Jason's prison background may grant him unique brawling moves not available to Lucia from the start.
  • Gym locations across Leonida may allow players to train and unlock new unarmed combos and grapple moves.
  • Fists are the only 'weapon' that cannot be dropped, confiscated, or depleted under any circumstances.
  • Environmental takedowns using fists - such as slamming heads into counters or shoving enemies over railings - are a rumored new feature.
