Description
The Mustang .357 Revolver is the hand cannon of Vice City - a six-shot monster chambered in .357 Magnum that delivers the kind of stopping power that makes even armored targets reconsider their life choices. Inspired by the legendary Colt Python, the Mustang is the revolver for players who believe that if you need more than six rounds, you brought the wrong gun. In the criminal ecosystem of Leonida, the Mustang .357 occupies a unique niche: too slow for run-and-gun firefights, too powerful to ignore when you need to put someone down with absolute certainty. It's the weapon of choice for bounty hunters prowling the Everglades and old-school enforcers who learned their trade before automatic weapons flooded the streets.
Design
The Mustang .357 is a visual showpiece - a full-size revolver with a ventilated rib barrel, target sights, and the kind of deep blued finish that makes it look like it belongs in a museum. The in-game model faithfully recreates the Colt Python's iconic proportions, including the full-length underlug and the distinctive cylinder release. Custom grip options range from polished rosewood to tactical rubber, and the barrel finish can be swapped between the default blue, nickel plate, and a gaudy gold option that screams Vice City excess.
Performance
The Mustang .357 is one of the hardest-hitting handguns in GTA VI, capable of one-shot headshot kills at surprisingly long range and punching through light body armor with ease. The penalty is brutal: a heavy trigger pull in double-action, significant recoil that requires re-acquisition between shots, and a reload that involves ejecting and reloading all six chambers. Fire rate is the lowest of any handgun, making it a poor choice for crowd control but devastatingly effective in one-on-one encounters.
Customization
Ammu-Nation offers barrel finish options including nickel and gold plating, along with custom grip panels in rosewood, ivory composite, and rubber tactical wraps. A barrel length upgrade slightly improves range and accuracy at the cost of draw speed. Unlike semi-autos, the Mustang accepts no suppressors, optics, or magazine extensions - what you see is what you get.
Locations
The Mustang .357 becomes available at Ammu-Nation during the mid-story, typically after completing missions that introduce the player to Leonida's more dangerous criminal elements. It can also be found on certain high-level NPC enemies in the rural Everglades regions.
