Description
Zipties are a tactical restraint tool used during robberies and hostage scenarios in GTA VI. When you need to control a room full of bank tellers or keep a security guard from reaching the alarm, zipties are the non-lethal answer. They represent GTA VI's expanded approach to crime - where controlling civilians during a score affects your heat level and mission rating.
Design
Standard heavy-duty nylon cable ties in white or black, thick enough to restrain wrists securely. They come in bundles and are carried in a pocket or belt pouch. Simple, disposable, and instantly recognizable from real-world law enforcement and military use.
Performance
Using zipties on a subdued NPC restrains them in place, preventing them from calling police, fleeing, or triggering alarms. Each tie is single-use and consumed on application. Restrained NPCs may eventually break free or be freed by arriving law enforcement, adding a time-pressure element to robbery scenarios.
Customization
N/A - a disposable consumable with no variants.
Locations
Available at hardware stores throughout Vice City, sold in bulk at building supply outlets, included in heist-prep loadouts from criminal contacts, and found in the utility belts of subdued security guards.
Trivia
- Zipties are a new addition to the GTA weapon wheel, reflecting GTA VI's deeper robbery and crowd-control mechanics.
- Using zipties on all civilians during a robbery may unlock a 'clean score' bonus that reduces wanted level intensity.
- The restraint mechanic is reminiscent of Payday's crowd control system, adapted for GTA VI's open-world context.
- Zipties can reportedly be used on co-op partners in GTA Online VI as a prank mechanic - though they break free quickly.
