Summary
Adds player-curated pirate stations, diegetic transmitters, and DJ banter that reacts to your wanted heat and district.
This package is authored for Grand Theft Auto VI only. It is not a GTA V conversion, does not install into GTAV directories, and will not run before the official Leonida PC release.
Highlights
- Placeable suitcase transmitters
- District-reactive DJ banter
- Custom folder music ingest
- Police triangulation mini-risk
Requirements
- GTA VI PC
- Optional custom MP3 folder
Overview
Pirate Radio Wave lets you run outlaw stations inside GTA VI's radio ecosystem. Place suitcase transmitters on rooftops, in vans, or on Keys houseboats. Broadcast custom tracks from a watched folder or curated preset packs. DJs - generated lines, not real celebrity VO - mock the mayor, shout out your last chase, and argue about Leonida sports.
Broadcast Gameplay
Stronger transmitters cover more districts but raise triangulation risk. If Wanted: Infinity is installed, active pirate broadcasts can tick municipal curiosity. You can go dark, move the suitcase, and spike again elsewhere.
Listeners spawn as ambient NPCs near speakers in bars that "accidentally" tune your frequency - a small world candy.
Music Curation
Drop legally owned MP3/OGG files into the pirate_ingest folder. The mod never ships copyrighted commercial tracks. Preset packs use original compositions and cleared sample kits from FrequencySouth.
DJ System
Banter hooks read district, time of day, weather severity, and heat tier. Storms get weather jokes; federal heat gets paranoid whispers. You can mute banter and keep music only.
Technical
Audio uses the game's radio bus so vehicle occlusion still works. Transmitters are synced props with modest draw cost. Max three active transmitters to protect performance.
Installation
Enable the radio provider patch. Conflict with total radio replacements - choose one provider or use the merge guide.
Roleplay Scenarios
Suggested play: fund a Keys houseboat station, bribe a Vice City club to leave a window open, or run a Port Gellhorn night shift with industrial techno while cops triangulate the docks.
Legal Notes
You are responsible for the files you ingest. The mod is a player - not a source - of music. Fan project only; not affiliated with Rockstar.
Station Operations
Treat transmitters like hot merchandise. Broadcast forty minutes, move, cool down. High-power rooftop Vicecasts are glorious and loud in triangulation. Houseboat Keys casts are quieter and vibe-heavy.
DJ banter seeds pull from a localized line bank. If you ingest music with explicit filenames, those strings never enter banter - we do not read filenames into VO.
Mix Bus Notes
Radio bus ducking respects in-world calls and mission VO. If your custom tracks are louder than Rockstar stems, normalize to -14 LUFS integrated. Clipping pirate audio will make the whole radio stack sound amateur.
Transmitter Hardware Fiction
Suitcase v1: short range, low heat. Van mast: mid range, medium heat. Rooftop array: long range, spicy triangulation. All are props with destruction states - shoot your own mast and you go off-air in a hurry.
Repair kits are bought at lore electronics stores. No microtransaction nonsense; this is a single-player mod.
Banter Pipeline
Writers submit lines tagged with district, heat min/max, weather, and time band. A compiler dumps duplicates and overflow length. Community packs can add JSON banks post-launch if they pass a profanity and hate-speech filter we ship as a CLI.
Music ingest never feeds the banter compiler. That wall is intentional.
