Solar Ascendant

Become Leonida's man of tomorrow - flight, heat vision, and invulnerability.

MetropolisLabs · v0.9.2-pre · 248 MB

Summary

Solar Ascendant rewires GTA VI's player controller into a full Superman-class power fantasy tailored to Leonida. Soar over Vice City neon, punch through Port Gellhorn freighters, and freeze cartel boats mid-chase - all gated behind a solar-charge meter that keeps the fantasy tense.

This package is authored for Grand Theft Auto VI only. It is not a GTA V conversion, does not install into GTAV directories, and will not run before the official Leonida PC release.

Highlights

  • True free-flight with sonic boom trails
  • Heat vision, freeze breath, and super-strength melee
  • Solar charge meter + weakness to kryptonite props
  • Story vignettes woven into Leonida landmarks

Requirements

  • GTA VI PC (post-launch build)
  • Script Hook VI 1.0+
  • DirectX 12 Ultimate GPU
  • 16 GB RAM minimum

Overview

Solar Ascendant is a comprehensive powers overhaul built exclusively for Grand Theft Auto VI on PC. It does not port GTA V scripts or assets - every ability, VFX pass, and audio cue is authored against Leonida's open world: Vice City towers, Keys mangroves, Ambrosia fields, and the industrial spine of Port Gellhorn.

The fantasy is simple and loud: you are no longer just Jason or Lucia. After a meteor-strike cold open (skippable), a dormant solar lattice in your bloodline activates. You gain flight, near-invulnerability, heat vision, freeze breath, super strength, and a dash that breaks the sound barrier. The catch is the Solar Charge meter. Daylight, rooftop sun, and certain story pickups refill it. Night, tunnels, and heavy cloud cover drain it. Push too hard and you drop out of the sky like any other mortal.

Unlike slapdash god-mode toggles, Solar Ascendant treats power as a system. Wanted stars escalate differently when you are airborne. Civilians film you. News choppers chase your vapor trail. Cartel snipers deploy glowing green rounds that shred your charge. The mod is designed so a first-time player feels like a comic-book cover - and a veteran still has to think.

Powers & Abilities

Flight is the centerpiece. Hold the ascend binding to lift off with a ground crater VFX, then steer with the camera. Altitude soft-caps around 1,200 meters to keep streaming stable; dive past terminal velocity and you get a sonic-boom shockwave that can shatter glass storefronts along Boulevard Ocean Drive. Hover mode locks vertical thrust for cinematic posing and precise landings on crane arms or yacht decks.

Heat vision is a twin-beam continuous weapon. It melts vehicle panels, ignites fuel trails, and can cut through warehouse doors after a sustained burn. Overuse spikes your charge drain and briefly blinds night vision if you stare into reflective water. Freeze breath is the crowd-control twin: a cone of frost that locks NPC locomotion, freezes shallow water into temporary walkable sheets across the Keys, and can stall boat engines mid-chase.

Super strength remaps melee. A charged punch launches cars; a ground slam creates a radial ragdoll shockwave. Grab-and-throw lets you hurl NPCs or props with physics mass checks so a parked Phantom feels different from a scooter. The dash ability (double-tap sprint while airborne) covers ~180 meters in a blink and can be chained twice before a cooldown - ideal for closing on fleeing targets across Vice City rooftops.

Invulnerability is layered, not absolute. Small arms tickle the charge meter instead of health. Explosives and heavy vehicles still apply stagger. Kryptonite-tagged props (smuggled crates near Port Gellhorn, a side quest lab in Grassrivers) apply a stacking debuff that disables flight and halves melee damage until you escape the radius.

Controls & Accessibility

Default keyboard bindings keep flight on Space / Ctrl, heat vision on RMB while airborne or grounded with the powers toggle active, freeze breath on F, and ground slam on V. A full rebinding panel ships in the pause menu under Mods → Solar Ascendant. Controller users get adaptive triggers for heat intensity and a radial wheel for ability selection.

Accessibility options include: reduced motion trails, epilepsy-safer beam flicker, colorblind heat/freeze recolors, hold-to-fly vs toggle-to-fly, and a "story first" preset that softens civilian panic reactions so narrative missions stay readable. There is also a cinematic camera pack that auto-frames ascending takeoffs from street level - perfect for clip creators.

Tutorials spawn as optional hologram coaches at the first activation site south of Vice City. You can dismiss them permanently. A practice arena loads a stripped sandbar near the Keys with destructible props, moving drone targets, and charge stations so you can drill combos without police AI.

Leonida World Integration

Solar Ascendant is not a floating power set - it hooks into Leonida's districts. In Vice City, LED billboards can glitch into "ANGEL OVER THE BAY" headlines after public flights. In the Keys, fishermen shout unique barks when you skim the water. Ambrosia's crop dusters peel away if you match altitude. Port Gellhorn security AI switches to anti-air protocols once you are flagged as a flying threat.

Landmark vignettes unlock as you visit: a sunset monologue atop Mount Kalaga, a guilty conversation with Lucia (or Jason) on a motel roof if you are playing the partner, and a cryptic radio intercept from a federal black site that hints at the meteor's origin. These are short, optional, and written to feel like GTA VI side chatter - not a separate campaign.

Weather matters. Thunderstorms amplify freeze breath range. Clear noon sun regenerates charge 40% faster. Dense fog reduces heat vision accuracy. The mod reads the native weather system rather than forcing its own skybox, so it stays compatible with world/weather packs that respect the same APIs.

Balance Philosophy

The design goal is power fantasy with friction. You can clear a street in seconds - then burn your meter and limp into an alley while LCPD-analogue units (Leonida State Troopers) box you in with kryptonite-tipped rounds. Missions that expect stealth remain completable with powers off; an in-world "suppressor cuff" item temporarily seals abilities for undercover beats.

Multiplayer / Freemode-style sessions (when available post-launch) are explicitly unsupported in v0.9. This is a single-player spectacle mod. Cheat detection notes in the readme warn that online use will be blocked by the game's integrity checks - and we will not provide workarounds.

Difficulty presets: Tourist (infinite soft charge, weaker civilian panic), Comic Book (default), and Hardened (charge drains 2×, kryptonite spawns denser, heat vision friendly-fires more easily). Hardened is recommended for players who already finished the story and want a new movement language for free roam chaos.

Installation & Compatibility

After GTA VI PC launches and Script Hook VI is available, drop the SolarAscendant folder into your mods directory, enable the ASI loader entry, and verify the solar_ascendant.meta hash in the included verifier tool. First boot runs a one-time shader compile; expect 2–4 minutes on mid-range GPUs.

Compatible with most clothing, vehicle replace, and radio mods. Conflicts are expected with other player-controller rewrites, god-mode trainers that hard-lock health, and camera mods that override free-cam while flying. A compatibility matrix ships in the docs folder and will be updated as the GTA VI modding ecosystem matures.

Uninstall is clean: remove the folder, delete the save-sidecar solar_progress.bin if you want to wipe vignette flags, and relaunch. The mod never writes to the base game archives.

Lore & Narrative Framing

In-mod fiction treats the powers as a Leonida urban legend. Street kids call you the Gold Ghost. Talk radio debates whether you are military tech or a marketing stunt for a Vice City energy drink. One optional payphone tip chain implies a South American cult shipped a meteor fragment through Port Gellhorn - the same docks that feed the kryptonite crate side content.

The writing avoids DC trademarks in dialogue. Flavor text says "solar lattice," "crimson focus," and "winter exhale" rather than copyrighted ability names. The storefront title Solar Ascendant and this dossier use Superman as a player-facing shorthand for the fantasy; in-world, characters never say the name.

If you complete every landmark vignette, a closing scene plays on a silent Keys pier at dawn: your character watches the sun clear the water, charge meter full, and chooses - in a binary prompt - to keep the lattice active or seal it. Sealing disables powers until you reload an earlier save. Keeping them flags a new free-roam ambient set where civilians leave chalk outlines of capes on sidewalks.

Performance & Technical Notes

Flight streaming uses predictive cell loading along your velocity vector. On SSD installs with 32 GB RAM, hitching is rare below 900 m altitude. HDD installs may stutter when dashing across district borders - lower the Prediction Radius in settings.

Heat vision is a deferred decal + particle hybrid; disabling high-quality refraction recovers ~8% GPU on 1080p. Freeze breath ice meshes are pooled; you will not leak memory during long sessions. The sonic boom shockwave queries a limited physics set (24 actors) to avoid frame spikes in downtown Vice City.

Known issues in 0.9.2-pre: rare camera gimbal lock when exiting hover into a confined interior; temporary loss of map blips during extreme altitude; and a visual seam when freeze-breathing during a thunderstorm lightning flash. Fixes are queued for the day-one post-launch build.

Field Manual - Power Combos

Advanced players chain abilities into set pieces. A classic Vice City opener: rooftop takeoff into a short dash, heat-vision a pursuit engine block, then freeze-breath the intersection so foot traffic locks while you slam the lead car into a billboard frame. The Solar Charge cost of that sequence is intentional - about 35% on Comic Book difficulty - so you learn to land, shade-regen on a glass tower, and re-engage.

Keys mangrove runs favor freeze sheets: skim water, exhale a temporary ice lane, sprint-dash across, and ascend before the sheet melts. Port Gellhorn vertical fights want ground slam into crane climb into hover peek - heat vision from altitude melts container doors tagged as smashables in the expanded dock pack.

Partner AI (Lucia or Jason, whichever you are not controlling in dual moments) receives soft hooks: they comment on landings, warn when kryptonite crates are nearby, and can carry a portable charge lamp unlocked in vignette three. The lamp is a diegetic regen prop, not a menu cheat.

Combat against federal anti-air in Wanted: Infinity federal tier forces cover discipline. Dash between warehouse roofs, never hover in open sky for more than two seconds, and save freeze breath for drone rotors. Invulnerability still staggers under rocket hits - treat rockets as hard interrupts.

Photo mode users should enable "cape-adjacent cloth" (a subtle jacket trail mesh, trademark-safe) and the sun-bloom LUT. Clip creators often bind a separate "pose freeze" that locks hover without draining charge for five seconds - it is marked as a creator tool and disables autosave while active.

Author Commentary

MetropolisLabs started Solar Ascendant as a movement experiment: what if flight in Leonida felt as authored as a trailer shot? Early prototypes clipped through streaming bubbles constantly. The prediction loader and altitude soft-cap exist because free-flight at 2,000 meters made the Gulf look like a loading slideshow.

The Superman fantasy is the pitch; the solar lattice is the fiction. We avoided trademarked names in barks and tutorials. Marketing copy on this vault can say Superman so players instantly understand the fantasy - in-world, you are the Gold Ghost, the lattice-bearer, the problem on the evening news.

Kryptonite props were almost cut for being too on-the-nose. They stayed because power without a counter reads as a trainer. Green crates in Port Gellhorn also give Blueprint Forge authors a hazard to script around.

We will not support online. If someone asks for a Freemode port, the answer remains no. Story and free roam spectacle are the brief.

QA Matrix & Known Edges

Test matrix covers Jason and Lucia, day and night, clear and storm, municipal through federal heat, and interiors with low ceilings where flight should auto-cancel into a hover stumble. We file anything that lets you clip the camera through Mount Kalaga collision as P0.

Edge: diving into shallow Keys water at dash speed can rubber-band the swimming transition - mitigated in 0.9.2 with a velocity clamp. Edge: heat vision against mirrored skyscraper glass can spawn a one-frame bloom spike on SDR displays - HDR users rarely see it.

Save compatibility: vignette flags live in solar_progress.bin. Copying that file between saves is unsupported but usually works. Deleting it resets lore progress without touching Rockstar saves.

Localization: English ships first. Subtitle keys exist for ES/BR/FR/DE community packs. Ability names stay English in the radial to avoid UI overflow in dense languages.

Controller gyro aiming for heat vision is experimental and off by default. When enabled, a deadzone of 8% reduces jitter on cheap pads.

Post-Launch Support Plan

Day 0 after GTA VI PC: verify Script Hook hashes, ship 1.0.0 if hooks match pre-claim expectations. Day 7: crash telemetry pass and vignette five if the story API allows payphone injection. Day 30: Hardened Plus difficulty and a photographer suite.

We will break compatibility intentionally if Rockstar changes the player controller ABI - expect a short dark period rather than a corrupt hybrid. Pre-claim users get email-less in-vault notifications; we do not harvest accounts.

Community guidelines: no paid resells of the ASI, no online injectors, no real-world extremist skins on the lattice VFX. Break those and we revoke the download token for that claim ID.

Solar Ascendant remains a single-player Leonida fantasy. That sentence is the north star when feature requests drift toward Freemode supremacy contests.
